The Oregon Supreme Court has overturned the rape convictions of Ronald Leistiko, a convicted rapist from Tigard who was said to prey on women using the website Craigslist.
Leistiko, a former longshoreman, was convicted in of two of three counts of first-degree rape, as well as 11 counts of strangulation, kidnapping, prostitution, assault and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment charges. Prosecutors could hold another trial, or negotiate a plea agreement. The woman screamed as loud as she could, and said Leistiko choked her and smothered her with a pillow.
She told Leistiko she would stop screaming if he used a condom. A pimp had placed for her on Craigslist.
Crappy, but some legit
The woman met him at his home, where he forced her to have sex, then later cooked a hamburger for her and did some work on her car, she told police. A fourth victim, an und masseuse, was also allowed to testify during the trial. Leistiko was acquitted of charges that he raped the third woman. Kistler wrote that the lower courts were wrong in allowing the testimony of an alleged fourth victim, which swayed the jury unfairly. Because charges were never filed, there was a question about whether the incident had ever happened.

Leistiko took the stand in his own defense and said the sex was consensual. No intent shown Leistiko appealed his convictions, saying the testimony prejudiced the jury against him.
